Q: Can all cell phones use the library's SMS feature?

A: Penisula Library System has found through the pilot phase that the iPhone and Helio are not able to text to an email address only phone numbers.

Q: Is there an extra charge for the SMS service?

A: No, the SMS service is free of charge; however, check with you cell phone provider as texting charges may apply. All cell phone providers provide limited or unlimited texting for a monthly fee.

Q: How long is the response time when I send a text to the library?

A: Response time is dependent on the cell phone provider. Most text messages respond in less than 60 seconds, we have found Sprint and Nextel can sometimes take up to four hours.

Q: I don't understand the message I received, how can I find out what it means?

Q: Will the library provide the SMS service in other languages?

A: The Peninsula Library System is currently developing the SMS service in Spanish. If or when other languages are available the website will be updated.

At least one number you sent was invalid. If you replied with multiple numbers they need to be separated by a space. Please try again or contact your library User renews by item number and they send an invalid item ID 
Please send the Item ID for each item you wish to renew. Separate multiple ID's with a space. This is the instruction the user gets when after they have received a list of items to renew 
All of your items have been successfully renewed. Success message when user asks us to renew ALL their items
Your items will be sent in a followup msg. Reply to it only once! To select an item for renewal reply with its corresponding number - use spaces between numbers This message is sent if user asks to see a list of items due for renewal 
The value you provided was invalid. Reply with keyword ALL to renew all eligible items or LIST to choose items for renewal The user did not reply with ALL or LIST when asked if they want to renew
Your phone number has been successfully removed from the system. You will no longer receive any messages or notifications from PLS on your phone. This is what the user gets when they QUIT 
We were unable to unregister your phone. Please contact your local library for further assistance. User asks to QUIT and a database error encounter
Would you like to receive phone notification when your hold items become available? Please reply with Y for Yes or N for No Opt in message for Hold notification 
Would you like to receive phone notification when you have late fees? Please reply with Y for Yes or N for No Opt in message for Late Fee Notification 
Your user account has been successfully updated. This is the success message for Opt-in or Opt-out of Notifications 
We were unable to understand your reply. Please reply with Y for Yes or N for No. User asked to send Y for Yes and N for No and they send bad data
We were unable to update your registration record. Please contact your local library. We could not save opt-in or opt-out data 
We were unable to renew your items. Please contact your local library for further assistance. For whatever reason the user's items could not be renewed 
Please provide your email address. This will complete the registration process. Last question in the SIGNUP process 
We're unable to verify your card number at this time. Please wait then resend your card number. If you continue to have problems contact your library During signup if we cant verify barcode number this is what the user will see 
library item(s) due for renewal. Reply with the word ALL to renew all items or LIST to choose your items. This message expires This is the renewal notice. The number of items is added to the beginning of the message 
Your current fees have exceeded &0. Do you want to receive the next scheduled reminder? Reply with Y for Yes or N for No Late Fee message. &0 is replaced with the actual late fee amount
The barcode you provided was invalid. A correct barcode consists of only 14 "numbers". Please try again. If you continue to have problems contact the library. User sends bad barcode.
