Mrs. Pargeter is a comfortable widow, of comfortable proportions, and comfortably provided for by the late Mr. P. Most importantly, Mr. P. left his widow his little black book. Mrs. P. never inquired, rightly so, into Mr. P's business affairs, but his former colleagues have great respect for his widow and would do anything to assist her. The dying widow of one of the late Mr. P's associates has called on Mrs. P. for assistance. She wishes to return some valuable art works anonymously. The plan culminates with the Chelmsford maneuver, a hilarious ruse worthy of Ealing Studios and Peter Sellars.
