Freshman

9th Grade CP English and AS / Pre-IB English

Capuchino High School recommends that each incoming freshman read two novels of his/her choice over the summer. There will be an opportunity to receive extra credit for completing a writing assignment based on these two novels at the beginning of the school year.

Sophomore

10th Grade CP English

Please read two books you haven't read before (your choice). There will be an assessment on these books when you return to school in the fall.

10th Grade AS English

Read both titles. The assessment will be an in-class timed write.

• Bless Me, Ultima by Rudolfo A. Anaya

Junior

11th Grade CP English

Please read two books you haven't read before (your choice). There will be an assessment on these books when you return to school in the fall.

11th Grade IB English

Read all titles. The assessment will be an in-class timed write.

• Black Boy by Richard Wright
• The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien

Senior

12th Grade CP English
